The owner of the pho restaurant on Au Trieu street is Ms. Ngo Thi Phi Nga (64 years old). Mrs. Nga is the granddaughter of the owner of the “once-famous” pho restaurant Tu Lun located on Hai Ba Trung street. Among Hanoi pho brands, Tu Lun has been featured the most in literature and journalism.
In 1994, after getting married, Ms. Nga brought her family’s heirloom recipe to open a restaurant in Au Trieu. Mr. Tu’s pho restaurant in the past and now is run by Mrs. Nga’s mother and sister in the kitchen.
“I am the third generation to keep the family pho pho profession. Whatever my grandfather and father taught me, I keep the recipe the same, unchanged. Now, the family has the fourth generation to continue the profession,” she said. Nga said.
